EU Troika poisition condemned by IAEA Core Group

London, IRNA - The so-called Core Group countries issued a joint statement in the IAEA Board of Governors on Thursday, condemning the resolution proposed by three European countries, the UK, France and Germany, against Iran's peaceful nuclear program, and as an example of the abuse of the decision-making process in the International Atomic Energy Agency and emphasized the need to support the continuation of an interactive approach with Iran to resolve the remaining safeguards issues.

In this statement, a copy of which was seen by the IRNA correspondent, it is stated, "We have taken into consideration Iran's long-standing commitment to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons as a member of the NPT and the continuation of interaction between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency. We welcome all issues related to the implementation of the NPT agreement, including the remaining issues."

The statement followed the resolution, which was proposed by the three European countries namely Britain, France, Germany with the backing of the United States against Iran's peaceful nuclear program, was approved by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Thursday.

The resolution, which was adopted by 19 votes in favor, 12 abstentions and 3 against, called on Tehran to take urgent and necessary measures to resolve the alleged issues of the Safeguards Agreement, without mentioning Iran's constructive cooperation with the IAEA.

The resolution repeats previously claims of E3 or the European Troika based on unfounded notion and forged documents of the Zionist regime and calls on Iran to provide valid explanations and notify the IAEA of its undeclared sites which has not been supported by authentic safeguards-relevant information and evidences.

However, IAEA inspectors continuously visit Iran's nuclear facilities and have never found evidence that could suggest the country's peaceful nuclear energy program is deviating toward military purposes.

Iran has also continued to cooperate with the agency within the framework of the Safeguards agreement, stressing that the remaining issues can be resolved if the IAEA adopts a professional and fair approach.
